Greek Lent 101

Growing up, I was amazed at how little was known about the Orthodox Church outside. Literally, most Americans still have no idea who or what we are. Great Lent is a HUGE deal in Greek culture, shaping our religious life, home life and even our view of the world. And our Greekness has shaped how we observe Lent, from preparation for the coming fast to the food we eat for over 40 days. And whether you’re practicing the religion or not, if you’re Greek, it’s part of who you are.

I invite you to learn about our customs and why we do the things we do. And we’ll talk food. Because we’re Greek.
